How to create nameserver A records in a DNS Zone

For nameservers on a reseller or VPS account to work, you need to create an "A" record entry within the DNS Zone of the domain they are for.

Eg: If you want ns1.yourdomain.com you need to edit the DNS Zone for yourdomain.com

The following steps are how to do this:

  1. Login to your WHM interface via https://yourdomain.com:2087
  2. Down the left-hand menu, locate and select "Edit DNS Zone"
  3. Within the list, select the domain you wish to create the nameserver records for and select "Edit"
  4. Locate the section stating Add New Entries Below this Line and add the information required, as demonstrated below

    Add DNS Entry
  5. Where it has the ns1 and ns2, do not add the entire domain. Only add ns1 and ns2 as shown.
  6. Where it has 123.456.789.123, please place the IP addresses of the nameservers. These will be either the IP addresses of our nameservers (if reseller) or the IP addresses assigned to your VPS (if VPS client)
  7. Once done, click Save and the zone will reload

That's it! All done.

If you have any troubles, simply lodge a ticket with information for further assistance.
