How do I configure DNS clustering within cPanel/WHM?

DNS Clustering allows you to keep DNS records synchronized across multiple servers.

If you have a cPanel VPS or Dedicated server, then you can configure this for yourself. If you are on a shared server, you do not have access to configure this nor do you require it as all our servers are already clustered.

Steps

  1. To access the Cluster / Remote Access Menu, click on Cluster / Remote Access, on the main screen of your WebHost Manager interface.
  2. Click on Configure Cluster.
  3. To enable DNS clustering, click the checkbox next to Enable DNS Clustering, and then click on Change.
  4. Then type the IP address of a server you wish to add to the cluster in the blank field next to Server IP Address.
  5. Click on Configure.
  6. Enter the username of the root account on the remote server (Generally root)
  7. Enter the Remote Access Key, found on the remote cpanel server under Cluster / Remote Access, Remote Access Key
  8. Repeat steps 4 and 5 as necessary.

Once set, go back into the Cluster/ Remote Access and be sure to set the status of the remote server to Syncronise Changes and Save

Be sure you do this on the remote server also so that all records are syncronised between the 2 servers efficiently.
